Parents, We Need Your
Help
We are in the process of making a change to the
morning drop off of students in the east parking lot at
Westland. The change will take place on
Monday, October 6, 2008.
We realize that the east parking lot becomes very
congested and backed up during the morning drop off
time. In order to make this safer and smoother for
your student/students, we ask that you do the following
things:
- Discontinue dropping
students off near the entry to the school grounds,
faculty parking, sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike
rack.
- Drive clear to the front
of the building and drop students off in the new
designated drop off area near the flagpole. After
dropping off your students, students should walk to
their grade level door.
- Do not leave your car
parked or unattended in the drop off area.
- Follow directions given by
police officers, principal, teachers, and parent
volunteers during the transition phase of parking lot
changes. Please know that tickets will be issued and
license plate numbers will be written down if parking
lot protocol is not followed.
Other reminders to keep students
safe:
- Students should not be
dropped off or picked up in the faculty parking lot as
indicated by the posted signs.
- Students should not leave
the sidewalk to walk through the parking lot to meet
parents or go to parked cars where parents are
waiting.
- Students should not wait
for parents on the grass areas or near the pine trees
to wait for carpools. These areas are
unsupervised and dangerous during the winter
months.
- Students who attend choir
practices should enter through the front doors of the
building and then walk to the gym. Please make
arrangements for siblings of choir students during
choir practice. There is no supervision for
siblings and they can be distracting to choir
students.
- Remind your students to
walk bikes, skateboards, and scooters on school
grounds and to bring a lock to secure items in the
bike rack.
Thanks for your help in making our
parking lot adjustments. |
