6th Grade Distinguished Cub Award
In order to earn the Distinguished Cub Award in 6th grade, students must complete 20 out of the listed items or earn enough partial completions to equal 66% total of the listed items. Most items are things students do during school time. Students may complete several items at home or during extra curricular activities. A note from a parent about out of school items will be sufficient for completion. Items need to be completed by early June, so that we can order awards and certificates.
1. Enter the PTA Reflections contest
2. Complete 5 art projects
3. Participate in a class performance activity
4. Earn a B or better each term on Language Arts report card.
5. Earn a B or better each term on Math report card.
6. Earn a B or better each term on Social Studies report card.
7. Earn a B or better each term on Science report card.
8. Read independently 900 minutes or more each term. Parent verify
9. Earn a B or better each term on Spelling report card.
10. Participate in five or more school spirit activities.
11. Serve on student council.
12. Publish five writing assignments.
13. Deliver a class oral presentation with 80% or better.
14. Participate in an extra curricular activity such as dance, soccer, football, baseball, martial arts, music, drama etc. Parent Verify
15. Participate in a post-season tournament, recital, demonstration where skills are demonstrated to the public. Parent Verify
16. Walk 60 miles during Fit Kids
17. Have 100% attendance all year.
18. Have 6 or fewer tardies all year.
19. Complete a keyboarding assessment with 33 words per minute and 90% accuracy.
20. Complete a Social Studies project as assigned by teacher with 80%
21. Participate in Safety Patrol.
22. Give 20 hours of community service (lunch work, clean up projects at school, assisting teachers) or service projects with family, church groups etc. Parent Verify.
23. Participate in a Shakespeare performance.
24. Read 5 or more award-winning books during the year. Newberry Award etc. Parent Verify.
25. Have all S or E in Citizenship marks on each report card.
26. Set and achieve a personal academic goal. Parent Verify
27. Demonstrate 100 % knowledge of multiplication facts 1 through 9 within 5 minutes.
28. Demonstrate a knowledge of prime numbers to 100.
29. Participate in the school play.
30. Complete the mile run within presidential fitness criteria/teacher adapted criteria (12 minutes boys 15 minutes girls)
31. Complete a Poetry Notebook with an 80% or better.
32. Create a blog, website, powerpoint presentation, or podcast.
33. Show measurable improvement for two consecutive terms in a an academic subject.
34. Earn all P’s in Healthy Lifestyles (PE).
35. Complete a science project as assigned by teacher with 80%
