SANDY ELEMENTARY BOOK OF THE MONTH CLUB
We are continuing our exciting program at Sandy Elementary called “Book of the Month.” Each month, every classroom in the school will read and discuss the same book, on the same day. We are hoping each family will continue discussing and sharing thoughts about the book at home.
Here are some ideas to help each family participate during the month:
- Talk about the book with your children. Ask questions, let them retell the story to you.
- Reread the book together as a family.
- Read other books written by the same author.
- Read other books about the same subject.
- Take a family field trip and learn about the subject.
- Each person can write their own “critique” of the book.
- Write a story that is similar to the idea of the book.
- Write a poem.
Find “Book of the Month” on the school web site for information about the book and the date it will be read in school. Information will also be sent in the monthly newsletter. We are eager to begin this program and hope it will be fun.
