| Review of Safe Walking Route |
Rosamond's Safe Walking Route is the same for most students. The major change will be for those students who have been riding a bus as part of the hazardous busing along Redwood Road. The district is evaluating whether this route will continue or not. If it does not continue, students will need to work their way to 12300 South Redwood Road, where there will be crossing guards and a traffic light. |
| Review of Track Request Process |
The entire school will be retracking this year. All track request forms should have been turned in. We will be creating the classes through the month of April. Parents should receive track assignments in May. There will be a window of time to receive track-change requests. They will be filled as space becomes available. |
| Parent Issues/Concerns |
A member of the school community council mentioned a concern regarding complaints/concerns voiced by parents. We do want to hear from you and want to work together to address issues and concerns. If you feel a concern has not been addressed, please contact Ms. Nordick. |

|
| Discussed UPAS and AYP scores-- |
- Discussed concerns regarding interpretation of scores.
- Discussed concerns regarding having complete information on subgroups.
|
| Discussed Safe Walking Route -- |
- The light on 12300 is scheduled to be turned by the beginning of January. Once the light is turned on, the crossing at Peggy Green park will not be accessible. How do we get the message to the students?
- Des called Kay Spence (the crossing guard at Peggy Green). She confirmed that the light will be turned on by the beginning of January and that her position will be terminated once that is done. She currently crosses 1 student on a bike on the way to school and 2 students on the way home. The student is on B Track. We will contact his family to let them know he needs to cross at 12300 South. Also suggested the possibility of having a police office at this crossing for a couple of days once it's closed.
- It has been recommended that we place a crossing guard on the north and south boundary of the school. This will eliminate students crossing in front of cars exiting the school. Shelley will contact the Sheriff's office about an additional crossing guard.
- Before the light is turned on, the teachers should talk to students about Redwood Road crossing.
- Shelley called transportation and let them know that the sidewalks will not be finished until March or April. They will continue hazardous busing until the sidewalks are finished. Once the sidewalks are finished, we will have to reapply to continue the hazardous busing route.

School Land Trust Update
|
The School Land Trust Plan submitted last spring is in place. School Land Trust funds provide 2 reading assistants, 2 math assistants, 2 computer assistants, and 1 Star Reading Program assistant.
Additional information regarding School Land Trust will be forthcoming. |
CSIP Update
|
2006-2007 goals were reviewed and evaluated. The plan is a 3-year plan. The goals will remain as they are. Changes will be made to the action steps. Committee members will review changes once they are completed. Revisions are due October 31, 2007. |
SCC Fundraiser
|
The sale of Happenings Books will continue this year. We appreciate the support of parents and community. |
Redwood Road Construction Update
|
Once the construction is complete on Redwood Road, there will be only one crossing located at 12300 South (with a light). Concerns were expressed regarding students crossing at Peggy Green Park, where there has been a crossing guard. The committee feels that busing should continue even after construction is complete. Ms. Nordick will address this issue with Transportation. The committee will revisit this concern in the next meeting as they prepare the School's Safe Walking Route. |
School Website
|
The committee's goal is to keep the website updated. It was suggested that additional information be included on the school website in order to communicate important information and activities as well as celebrate the good things that are happening at Rosamond. |
Other Items |
A parent asked for clarification on the school's practice of having no yellow days. The decision was made because of supervision concerns. On yellow days, the outside assistants must monitor both inside and outside, no matter the number of students choosing to go outside.
The team leaders set a standard for red days . If the temperature reaches 25° or below (wind chill factor included) and if there is precipitation, a red day will be called. Teachers will then be asked to provide supervision along with the outside assistants. |
