Dear Parents:
The guidelines for Open Enrollment (Choice) in Jordan School District have been established. A School Transfer Application must be completed. When you have completed the School Transfer Application form indicating another school you want your student to attend in Jordan School District for 2008-09, return the form to the principal at the receiving school. Students will be accepted on a first come, first-served basis as long as space and staff are available. The date and time of day written on the form will determine the order and number of students accepted. The cut off date to receive Open Enrollment applications is February 15, 2008. If your child has particpated in the athletic program, make certain that eligibility is maintained in the transfer.
The Board Policy Guidelines for Open Enrollment (Choice) transfers are as follows:
A. Students desiring to attend a Jordan District school other than the boundary school must file a request for transfer at the school they desire to attend.
B. Transfer Open Enrollment requests shall be considered on a first-come, first-served basis from December 3, 2007 to February 15, 2008 as long as space and staff are available.
C. The receiving principal shall grant or deny transfer requests according to the availability of space and staff. Schools that are overcrowded may be closed to students from outside the school's boundaries.
D. The receiving principal shall notify the parents of the transfer decision no later than March 3, 2008, and sooner if possible.
E. Students who are granted transfer requests are obligated to remain at the requested school for at least one school year.
F. District bus service shall not be provided for students who transfer schools. Student transportation shall be the responsibility of the parents.
G. Choice permits are granted on an individual basis. An enrollment guarantee for siblings is not implied.
