The mission of Joel P. Jensen Middle School is to advance each student's academic and personal development.
On September 24, 2013, Joel P. Jensen Middle School was highlighted at the Jordan District School Board Meeting. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school. The following is the speech given by our Student Body President, Brenna Booth:
"Good Evening Jordan School District Board, Parents, Teachers and Community. My name is Brenna Booth and I am the Student Body President at Joel P. Jensen Middle School.
Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to highlight Joel P. Jensen. The mission of Joel P. Jensen Middle School is to advance each student's academic and personal development. Recently the state graded schools in the state. They gave us a C grade. Tonight we want to tell you why we're better than a C.
There are several reasons for why "we're better than a C."
And these are just a few reasons why "we are better than a C".
We have several programs in place to promote mastery and academic success in all subject areas.
We also have school-wide expectations that we call PROWL. These expectations guide student behavior and students are rewarded for following them. Incentives for following PROWL include coupons they can use at the school store and opportunities to play Planko on the amazing dartboard.
As you can see with all of us here, students are very involved and invested in the success of Joel P. Jensen. We have several student groups including, SBO's and PTSA students who plan, promote and execute school activities. We have the PROWL team that is our peer mediation and anti-bullying group. We have Stage Crew that is responsible for media at all of our activities and assemblies. We also have MESA, NJHS and Latinos in Action who focus on academic and service activities.
We have a student body that is diverse in cultural and socioeconomic factors, but we are one in our mission to advance each student's academic and personal development. We have an amazing student body, faculty and staff. This is why "we're better than a C."
Thank you for allowing us to highlight our school."
