Regular Attendance is of the utmost importance for academic achievement. It is expected that students will arrive on time (no earlier than five to ten minutes before school begins) and attend school each day inless they are ill or on educational leave.
Students with excessive absences and/or tardies may result in a referral to the district attendance specalist and/or students with excessive tardies will not be eligible for honors on the Pupil Progress Report in the area of attendance.
Excessive absences or tardiness may result in a referal to the district attendance specalist and/or a conference with the student, parent and principal.
District Guidelines for Attendance
Excessive Absences: Average of one or more absence per week for five or more weeks.
Excessive Tardies: For or more tardies in a two week period.Attenance Procedures
1. The compulsory education letter is sent home in the first day packet.
2. Teacher will contact parent or guardian after 5 unexcused absences or tardies. Reasons for the absences or tardies will be discussed and documented on the attendance tracking sheet.
3. After 10 unexcused absences or tardies a note will be sent home from the principal reminding parents of the attendance policy.
4. After 15 unexcused absences or tardies a letter will be sent home and a meeting with the principal will be scheduled to discuss attendance issues.
5. After 20 unexcused absences or tardies a certified letter will be sent home requesting attendance mediation and a referal to the district attendance specalist will be made. If attendance issues are not resolved a referal to court will be made.
Excused Absences/Tardy Requirements
Illness- A note to the teacher or office is required.
Doctor's appointment- A note from the physician's office is required. Please turn notes into the office as soon as possible.
Family Emergency- A note is required upon arrival at school.
Educational Leave- Each student in granted a total of ten educational leave days. These days may be used at the discretion of the parent. Forms are available in the office and need to be completed one week prior to the educational leave. This paperwork must be completed if a student is going to miss three or more consecutive days.
Please notify the school of any extenuating circumstance affecting student attendance. It is out goal to work together to try and resolve concerns.
