We always need parents to help out, especially at activties like school dances, the Halloween Carnival, etc. Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the PTSA website. You can go the link here. We are always looking for help! Thank you!
- What Happend to TLC? This year, the name of TLC has been changed to CTE Intro. CTE is short for Career and Technical Education. A few new standards have been introduced into the program, but essentially it is still the same class. For those of you who are not aware of this class, it is a Utah requirement for 7th graders, in which students switch teachers every quarter as they learn different CTE areas. The purpose of this program is to allow students to be involved in activity-centered lessons, which utilize technology, develop beginning skills, and explore careers.
One quarter they will learn about Family and Consumer Sciences, such as cooking, sewing, and childcare. Another quarter will be spent in Business, learning about computers, software, internet and marketing. A third quarter will be devoted to Technology, where students will study how things are made. And the fourth quarter will me a mix of all three. The order in which students take these four courses will vary.
- Student Pictures on the Elk Ridge Website- As webmaster, I often put photos of students on our website. As a precaution, I always make sure that no photos are placed along with the full name of the student, and I do not use last names at all. In order to put student pictures on the internet, I must have parental permission. Permission forms for this will be given out with the CTE Intro disclosure for 7th graders and will be applicable throughout all three years your student attends here. If you do not want your student on the internet, please just let me know. If you have not signed a form, and would like your student to be eligible, please click here for a copy of the form. Print, sign, and return with your student. It can be placed in Mrs. Rees' box and I will update my records. Thank you!
