Homework
Students in Miss Peterson's class have three kinds of homework: weekly, monthly, and assignments that they did not complete in class.
Each Friday, students will get a homework packet, including reading, spelling, math, and a list of any assignments they missed during the month. That packet should be returned, including the missing assignments, by Thursday of the following week. Without exeption, all students are expected to read at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Each week that spelling is sent home, students are expected to do one word sort each day and write their sort on their homework sheet. They are also expected to write 6 sentences using at least 10 of their spelling words. Math homework is given to allow students to review concepts we have already covered in class. Students will also get an new fluency book if they have turned in their old one. Unfortunately, due to copy-right issues, math homework pages cannot appear on this website.
At the first of each month, the homework packet will include a book report form and a set of poems for the students to memorize. This sheet is due the last Wednesday of the month.
Students should read a book from the specified genre and memorize one of the poems. On the last Wednesday of the month, students will give their book report orally, as well as recite a poem. Students' oral language grade is based on these two assignments. |
