Our School Improvement Plan:
Goal #1 - [Language Arts] Increase by 10% the # of students performing in the partial and mastery levels as measured by the end-of-year testing.
Actions Steps/Activities:
1. Hire and train instructional assistants and community volunteers to work with identified students grades K to 6.
2. Implement Guided Reading and Writer's Workshop in grades K to 6.
3. Teach comprehension strategies.
4. Utilize parent volunteers to enhance student reading, comprehension, and writing.
5. Provide opportunities for students to participate in special programs that promote literacy skills.
6. Utilize technology to enhance student literacy skills.
Goal #2 - [Mathematics] Increase by 10% the # of students performing in the partial and mastery levels as measured by the end-of-year testing.
Actions Steps/Activities:
1. Provide problem solving activities in grades K to 6.
2. Create a grade level math manipulative library.
3. Provide teacher training in targeted areas.
4. Utilize parent volunteers to enhance student math skills.
5. Utilize technology to enhance math skills
Goal #3 - [School Culture] (1) Strenthen student understanding and commitment to the five character traits as defined by JSD. (2) Provide students with the opportunity for physical fitness activities weekly through the presidential fitness program and the gold medal school program. (3) Encourage and support parental involvement in the school community. (4) Increase student exposure to visual and performing arts.
Actions Steps/Activities:
1. Utilize a school-wide behavior management program while reinforcing the use of the Character traits as defined by the Jordan School District.
2. Implement the Presidential Fitness and Gold Medal Schools program.
3. Implement the Learning Links Program to support parent involvement and increase school to home communication.
4. Provide training to parents from specialist on positive parenting practices.
5. Offer choir, orchestra, and Artist in Residence programs.
