Bella Vista Elementary, opened in 1965, is located five miles from Big Cottonwood
Canyon in the Salt Lake Valley. The school is on a traditional calendar and
serves approximately 400 students from kindergarten to sixth grade. The students
live within walking distance or are bussed from the area north of Fort Union
Blvd. between 9th and 13th East and come from middle to upper middle-income
homes. The school enjoys support from an active community that is interested
in education.
Our certified staff provides an outstanding education for the Bella Vista
community. Nine teachers hold masters degrees, four have ESL endorsements,
and two have gifted and talented endorsements. Our staff is strongly committed
to the district’s balanced literacy framework, and we also seek to enhance
student learning through integrated technology opportunities.
Parents demonstrate their active support through PTA membership and service
at the school. Volunteers organize and teach, “Meet the Masters”
(visual art and famous artists) and social skills to students in the classroom.
MISSION: The mission of Bella Vista Elementary is to provide an atmosphere of respect, self-reliance and highly educated students in a safe and stimulating environment provided by a caring staff, parents and community.
